Who is Stephen R. Covey?

In my Perspectives of Leadership class, we were given an assignment to choose a “thought leader” and share his/her secrets about marketing and their big ideas. I bet you’re wondering, what is a thought leader? Well, my understanding is that this person is someone who influences marketers and helps to improve certain issues individuals are facing in their day to day lives. I have chosen to do my thought leader project on Dr. Stephen R. Covey.

In one of my first semester classes (Professional Effectiveness), we were handed a reading called “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. This hand out explained ways individuals can achieve success and happiness through a 7-step process. These steps would include various tips like being proactive and renewal spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. I really liked this reading as I felt that I could implement it into my own life. That’s why I have chosen the author Steven R. Covey as my thought leader.

At the moment, I do not know much about this author. I have taken an interest in his book and would love to further that interest into knowledge. It is to my understanding that Stephen Covey was an educator, author, businessman, and a keynote speaker but sadly passed away in July 2012 due to complications from a bicycle accident.

I hope to gain a stronger insight into Stephen R. Covey’s ideas. I remember reading a brief section and agreeing with each of the 7 habits. Hopefully, I’ll be able to have a better understanding of each habit and work them into my day to day life. I’m excited to give it a go and to better myself from it!

I highly recommend checking out Stephen R. Covey’s book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and checking out his social media and website. His posts are inspirational and interesting to read. Let me know what you think by sending me an email through the comment section of my blog!
