My life at SLC

Growing up in a small town was pretty difficult; don’t get me wrong, I love Madoc and nothing feels more like home to me than seeing the dilapidated “Welcome to Madoc”  sign on my visits back, but I can honestly say it’s been a treat having everything and anything in a 10 minute radius.

In 2014 I attended St. Lawrence College (SLC) for General Arts and Science- Behavioural Psychology Stream, and I can politely say that it wasn’t for me. I was heartbroken to come to this realization as this was the only program I had considered. After two years of waitressing, teaching dance, selling clothes and scooping ice cream, it was finally time for me to begin planning my future. Trying to find a program that best suited me was a very difficult process. Being an indecisive person with a great deal of passions caused me a lot of stress as I was confused as to which path I wanted to take. I finally made the decision to take Advertising and Marketing Communications and began my journey to adulthood on September 1st.

The girl sitting here writing this blog has changed immensely from the girl who started this program a month ago. I’ve made life long friends who make me want to better myself and I am starting to realize the type of person I want to be. I am determined to succeed in school because I am genuinely enjoying the program I am taking. This year has been above and beyond for me; although I have never been a big fan of school, I love the majority of my classes and enjoy learning in depth about the aspects of Advertising and Marketing. Although I am nervous about the future, I can’t wait to see where this program will take me.
